BackgroundCheck.us.org is changing the format of their reports to make them more useful for people who use their search service as part of the online dating process, the company announced yesterday.
“We have done surveys that demonstrate that the vast majority of our customers are using our service as part of the online dating process,” a BackgroundCheck.us.org spokesman said. “Those people are interested in very specific types of information. So we have decided to front-load the information they are looking for, so they don't have to dig through the entire report to find out what they need to know.”
While people who are doing a background check to learn about their neighbors may be interested in even the most minor arrests, people screening online dates have a completely different set of priorities, he said.
“If someone us screening an online date, they probably don't care all that much if someone got busted for pot or shoplifting when they were 19,” he said. “What they care about is if a potential date has a history of sexual or domestic violence, if they are married, or if they have been divorced multiple times. That's the information we are going to highlight.”
The reports will still contain all of the background information previously provided, he said.
“We aren't going to give people less information, we are just going to make it easier for people to scan for the data that relates to online dating situations,” he said.
