Baker Electric Solar Kicks Off 2015 with Sponsorship of San Diego Resolution Run 15K and 5K
San Diego, Calif. (PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- Baker Electric Solar, an award-winning San Diego solar company, kicked off its 2015 community support efforts with its sponsorship of the San Diego Resolution Run 15K and 5K.The first Sandy Feet Event of the New Year benefited the San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project’s Wild Willow Farm & Education Center.
The San Diego Resolution Run was held in Mission Bay on Saturday, January 10th at 7:30 a.m. The 15K and 5K runs were open to all ages—with more than 1,500 participating. The Sandy Feet Event’s theme, “Running to Reduce Your Footprint,” was about shedding a few holiday pounds while lightening the impact of one’s carbon footprint on the Earth both environmentally and physically. Baker Electric Solar identified with the organization’s theme and Earth-friendly race management practices.
Eco-friendly Sandy Feet Events are all about people being active outside--making a positive difference in the San Diego community. The organization’s events reduce paper waste by requiring at least 80 percent of the total pre-registered race field to register online. Athletes are given public transportation routes and are provided with ride-share options. Traditional race swag bags are replaced with virtual bags that provide runners with goodies via an online click. Single-use disposable plastic bottles for water or sports drinks are not distributed at the finish line. The organization reuses at least 80 percent of its signage for future events, and more.
Proceeds from the event went to the San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project’s Wild Willow Farm & Education Center. The Project is a growing network of citizens, farmers, chefs, gardeners, teachers, and students working to encourage the growth and consumption of regional food. From farm to fork, they focus awareness and work toward a more ecologically sound, economically viable and socially-just food system in San Diego.
“Sponsoring the Resolution Run was an ideal fit for us.
