Ames Tribune Launches My Ames App in Partnership with Organizations Across Community
Ames, Iowa (PRWEB) December 31, 2014 -- The Ames Tribune has just launched a comprehensive app for the Ames, Iowa community, now available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play app store. The My Ames app, developed by Bar-Z, provides residents, students, and visitors with a wide variety of information provided by the Ames Chamber of Commerce and Iowa State University (ISU), in addition to the newspaper.
The all-inclusive app features local deals, business listings and information on city resources, parks, attractions, community events, local news, sports and more. The Ames Tribune is using the app to present its annual Best of Story County winners.
Partnering with other organizations in the community has enabled the paper to enrich the My Ames app with a wide breadth of content. A full ISU section offers important university contacts, information on dining, recreation services and student life, a campus event calendar and directions to the university. The Ames Chamber of Commerce section supports local business and economic development as well as educating the community on the chamber goals and leadership.
“We are excited to work with the Ames Tribune to create an app that is so far reaching within the community. We see a lot of potential in targeting residents, students and visitors, and the Tribune has the relationships and resources to make the app effectively serve all of these audiences with timely and useful information,” said Wm. Lee Little, CEO of Bar-Z.
While the Tribune is focused on providing quality information via My Ames, they are also interested in creating another avenue for businesses in the community to reach clientele through affordable advertising. Local businesses can work with the paper to expand their listings to include a business description, photo gallery and video, GPS location with turn-by-turn directions, a “click to call” phone listing, social media links and the opportunity to offer digital coupons and deals.
A unique QR code feature allows app users to scan codes posted at participating businesses to jump directly to its app listing for access to electronic coupons and other information.
