Dogs and Families: Bark in the Park™ San Jose 2017 Features Contests, Agility Courses, Demonstrations and a New Kids Entertainment Zone
San Jose, California (PRWEB) August 25, 2017 -- Bark in the Park™ San Jose 2017, the largest dog festival in the United States, attracting more than 15,000 dog lovers and 3,900 dogs. Bark in the Park 2017 will be held September 16, 2017, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at William Street Park (Corner of E. William Street and S. 16th Street) in downtown San Jose, California.
Located in an expansive neighborhood park, Bark in the Park San Jose is a family friendly event that features contests, beverages, food, agility courses, kid’s activities, and over 70 different dog-related vendors and services. And dogs, lots of dogs. Admission is free for humans with a $5 donation per dog. Proceeds from donations benefit the Humane Society Silicon Valley, San Jose Animal Care Center and other local charities.
New this year is a dedicated Kids Entertainment Zone with a kid’s agility course, puppy make-over packages (face painting and more), and a dog-themed bounce house. Sam's Downtown Feed and Pet Supply's mascot, Downtown Dog, will be on hand for photos and hugs.
There will also be a “Dog Owner in Training” Resource Tent where children and their families can learn the basics of dog ownership through interactive demonstrations. These demonstrations include how to be a better dog owner, how to teach a dog simple tricks, how to approach dogs, and how to read a dog’s behavior.
“Bark in the Park began as a local neighborhood event to celebrate people and their dogs,” said John Turner, President of the Campus Community Association, which hosts Bark in the Park. “It has grown from just a handful of dog lovers to thousands. This is a fun opportunity for families and their canine pals to explore and enjoy a day in a neighborhood park while raising funds for local animal related charities.”
Event highlights and ongoing activities: The popular and fun-to-watch dog contests and demonstrations return to Bark in the Park San Jose. In addition to the events and entertainment, Bark in the Park San Jose also features dog-related vendors and products, fun games, tips on dog care and adoption, and pet services, including low-cost vaccinations and micro-chipping.
