Benjamin Vinar’s New Memoir Breathes Life into Jewish Heritage

NEW YORK (PRWEB) May 08, 2015 -- Not every immigrant who came to America went from rags to riches. Author Benjamin Vinar’s parents grew up comfortably in the Ukraine, but their circumstances quickly changed with the bloody arrival of World War I and the Russian Revolution. The new book “My Little Life” (published by Archway Publishing) is a record of Vinar’s life and that of his parents – a memoir for posterity’s sake.

Vinar’s parents often reminisced about their youth in a largely Jewish community in the Ukraine. Meanwhile, their life in the American Midwest was a constant struggle. As Benjamin grew up, the once vibrant Jewish community he knew started to decline as his generation deserted their grandfathers’ ways en masse.

“‘My Little Life’ tells the story of a child who was raised in an overprotective cocoon of love and strict boundaries,” Vinar says, “his confused entry into a world for which he was ill-prepared and the struggles in his mind to make meaning out of what he saw.”

In “My Little Life,” Vinar breathes life back into what’s been lost, celebrating his Jewish heritage and sharing an important historical account, while intricately exploring the mindset that his upbringing produced in him.
