Best Drug Rehabilitation Launches Program Enabling Patients to Volunteer at Manistee, MI Animal Shelter
(PRWEB) February 05, 2015 -- Best Drug Rehabilitation, which offers treatment programs and believes that having family close by during a stay in rehab can make a big difference in whether or not the process is successful, has launched a program that enables patients to volunteer at the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter located in Manistee, Michigan.
The program, which typically involves 5-10 patients and runs on a weekly basis, involves feeding, grooming, exercising and spending quality time with homeless animals who wind up at the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter, which is also known as the Manistee County Humane Society. Each year, the designated no-kill shelter finds homes for approximately 400 animals.
In addition to helping the animals and supporting Shelter’s extremely dedicated and hard working staff, Best Drug Rehabilitation patients find the experience rewarding and therapeutic.
“I love animals, and being able to spend a small part of my day making their lives better, makes mine better,” commented on patient who has made the weekly volunteer event a regular part of their schedule. “Every animal deserves a loving home and I’m just glad to be a part of helping them get there.”
“This volunteer program is an extremely beneficial way to help patients reconnect with the community, and experience happiness and fulfillment in a way that has absolutely nothing to do with drugs, alcohol, or a self-destructive lifestyle,” commented Best Drug Rehabilitation’s CEO Per Wickstrom. “We are very grateful to the incredible staff and volunteers at Homeward Bound Animal Shelter for allowing our patients to help make a difference; not just to the animals, but as part of their own journey towards rehabilitation and recovery.”
