Best Drug Rehabilitation Staff & Clients Spread Holiday Cheer by Singing Carols at Local Nursing Home
(PRWEB) December 30, 2014 -- On Saturday December 20, Best Drug Rehabilitation staff and clients sang carols to residents of the Green Acres nursing home in Manistee, Michigan, in order to spread some holiday warmth and cheer.
“Giving back to the community and helping others is always fulfilling and worthwhile, but it’s particularly valuable for those on the road to substance abuse recovery, who need to establish or re-establish their community roots and feel the unique joy that only comes from giving -- not getting,” commented Best Drug Rehabilitation’s CEO Per Wickstrom.
“The clients get to experience fun and joy not associated with drugs or alcohol,” commented Best Drug Rehabilitation’s Veronica Johnson. “It’s wonderful to see the joy on the faces of the residents from doing something so simple. The clients really enjoyed the experience.”
Best Drug Rehabilitation’s volunteer efforts take place throughout the year, are designed to help foster a “pay it forward” perspective that ideally lasts well beyond when clients achieve sobriety and leave rehab.
Added Per Wickstrom: “People going through recovery gain perspective and physiological benefits from charitable efforts, such as improved self-esteem and self-confidence, and even finding deeper purpose and meaning in life.”
