On Tuesday, Biometrica Systems, Inc., a Las Vegas and Virginia-based SaaS company focused on creating products that link the physical to the digital in order to prevent crime and track criminals and their associates, announced the release of a new version of SSIN, their fully encrypted Security & Surveillance Information Network.

The immediate new functionalities include a secure, convenient mobile application, which will, with a couple of clicks, allow any subscriber with access to the mobile app the ability to run an immediate scan on a suspicious known or unknown person, anywhere on their property, and receive feedback on that person or persons in operational real time.

Over the next few months, other enhanced features will also give subscribers the ability to run operational real-time facial recognition scans of any individuals on their property against a law enforcement-verified database of criminals — a database that includes known thieves, drug and human traffickers, sex offenders, gang members, murderers, terrorists and white-collar criminals.

“The functionalities of the new SSIN, part of our overall VisualCasino 7 release, are pretty revolutionary by any standard, not just for the surveillance and security industry,” said Biometrica CEO Wyly Wade. “This might be the first time a private company has taken Department of Defense-developed Facial Recognition software, which can be run against a large, law enforcement and intelligence agencies-sourced database of criminals, and attached that to mobile devices for private customer use. A mobile platform is critical to being able to track suspicious activity as it happens, instead of only doing forensic, post-facto analysis.”

According to the FBI’s violent crime database, there are currently approximately 33,000 violent street gangs, outlaw motorcycle gangs, and prison gangs, with about 1.4 million active members criminally active in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The 2015 National Gang Report has said that almost half the prison facilities reported that prison gangs joined domestic extremist groups. And an FBI release last month stated that their anti-trafficking sting operations to recover underage victims, part of “Operation Cross Country,” focused specifically on hotels, casinos and truck stops.

“While the tracking criminals part of it is obviously more glamorous to most people, one of the areas where this will be very handy is to our NBFI (Non-Bank Financial Institution) customers,” said Biometrica CFO Nigel White. “They have an imperative to fulfill Know Your Customer requirements on an everyday basis. Helping them have access to faces and backgrounders of known white-collar felons in the system, will support their KYC and Anti-Money Laundering obligations.”

According to the company’s Vice President of Business Development, Kevin Parker, the new SSIN release is the first of several updates and upgrades to be announced over the next three months, as part of the transition from VisualCasino 6 to VisualCasino7. “In the seven years since we released VC 6, technology has changed dramatically,” said Parker. “That transformation is reflected in our new applications and functionalities. The mobile access is a game-changer, but there’s more coming, so watch this space.”
