BizMed is Offering NCQA PCMH Recognition Support at No Charge for Solo Physicians and at Nominal Cost for Other Practices
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) April 09, 2014 -- For a limited time, BizMed will offer its CME approved Medical Home program at special rates with the goal of enabling primary care physicians in private practice to become recognized as Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMHs) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA PCMH recognition may allow primary care practices to obtain financial incentives from private and public health insurance plans.
The new NCQA PCMH 2014 standards are closely aligned with Meaningful Use Stage 2 and introduce stronger emphasis on behavioral health and structured team-based care, among other expanded requirements. By comparison, the NCQA PCMH 2011 standards are aligned with Meaningful Use Stage 1 and are better suited for small practices that have not yet transitioned to electronic medical records (EMR).
The BizMed Medical Home JumpStart program consists of a series of self-paced CME approved webcasts, supported by pragmatic instructional materials custom-built to simplify and accelerate NCQA PCMH 2011 recognition, regardless of EMR adoption status. The JumpStart program is built on, and delivered through, the BizMed web-based PCMH management platform, which is completely free to all practices and includes troves of useful tools and templates.
For the remainder of calendar year 2014, BizMed is making the 2011 Medical Home JumpStart program available at no cost to Solo physicians, and for a nominal dollar amount for larger practices. BizMed recommends that solo physicians take advantage of this offer even if they are not currently considering PCMH recognition for two reasons: a) the program materials go well beyond NCQA PCMH recognition to address common problems in any practice, and b) the materials can serve to dispel very expensive misconceptions regarding PCMH, and can be used as decision aids for PCMH planning.
The deadline for submitting applications for recognition under the NCQA PCMH 2011 standards is March 31, 2015 and the deadline for obtaining PCMH 2011 review tools from NCQA is June 30, 2014. NCQA PCMH recognition status is valid for 3 years. Considering the structural and financial changes currently occurring in the health care industry, it is imperative that primary care practices make a careful and informed decision regarding their PCMH status.
BizMed is hosting the “May Day - Medical Home Recognition Decisions” informational webinar on Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at 5 pm Eastern, to objectively explore the options available to primary care practices in these turbulent times. Register for his complimentary webinar here.
