Blanden Art Festival Celebrates Imagination, Innovation And Inspiration For The Entire Family With Artists, Entertainment And Children's Activities
Fort Dodge, IA (PRWEB) June 05, 2014 -- Blanden Art Museum History - The Blanden Art Museum is located in the Historic Oak Hill District of Fort Dodge, a city on the Des Moines River settled in the 1850s and developed as a mining, agricultural and commercial center of Webster County.
The museum is a neo-classical public building constructed on private land and financed by Charles Granger Blanden. The museum and grounds were donated to the City of Fort Dodge at completion in 1932.
The museum permanent collection includes the Ann R. Smeltzer Modernist collection of European and American painting and sculpture, the Harold D. Peterson collection of European and American prints, American photography, contemporary American art, Iowa artists, and Japanese screens and prints.

Over 20 artists from across the Midwest will be attending The Blanden Art Festival. The art will include weaving, painting, clay, ceramics, wood turning, stain glass, jewelry, metal sculptures, silk scarves, photography, and more. Artist include Marilyn Anderson, Kay Baldus, Jillian Knutson, Theo Clark, Billy Cho, Jane Martin, Deb Casey, Delayne Segar, Joan Sullivan, Beth Tepe, Sharon Rippke, Svana Lamb, Mary Jo Hinds, Raymond Williams, Gary Winkler, Doug Abbott , Bobby Tso, Brand Weiland, Diane Kunzler, Kendall Kunzler Lensch, Diane Kunzler, Paul Peterson, Marilyn Andersen, Betty Heideman, Ryan Knipp, Ernie Koch and Maureen Powers.
The day will also be filled with children's activities creating hanging ornaments, print making art, creating small scale sculptures, and weaving projects. Guest artist assisting with the children's activities include Jennifer Dutcher, Diane O'Hern, Pam Dennis and Diane Sinclair.
A tent will be set for a day of entertainment that the entire family can enjoy. The morning will start out with Oz Magic followed by the Stage Door Productions. Robert Patton, baritone vocalist will perform and the afternoon will end with Jive For Five, Brass Quintet. Relax and enjoy the variety, visit with friends and meet new friends.
Lunch will be available on the grounds served by the Grace Lutheran Church ARiSE Youth Group and the Fort Dodge Noon Lions Club.
