LANFA Honors Odile Koudou Author of ‘The Blessing Legacy’ With a Special Achievement Award
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 24, 2016 -- The extraordinary life journey of Odile Koudou that began in a small village on the Ivory Coast of Africa has landed within shouting distance of Hollywood. In recognition of her creative efforts, the Los Angeles Nollywood Film Association (LANFA) has bestowed a special Achievements Award on the author of “The Blessing Legacy” (http://www.theblessinglegacy.com).
“It was good,” Odile said of the trip to LA, adding that the weather was nice and she made new friends.
The award presentation took place during the Los Angeles Nollywood Film/Music Awards Festival at James Bridges Theater, in Los Angeles. The three-day festival offered screenings of a variety of films featuring an array of talent from around the world.
“We work in collaboration with Hollywood on the production on quality African works in film and television in the Americas and other countries around the world,” said LANFA spokesman King Bassey. “Our goal is to provide a platform for our creative artists to produce and showcase the unique artistic abilities.”
In addition to recognition by LANFA, Odile has been designated as a presenter at the upcoming Nollywood & African Film Critics' Awards in November, where she will be introduced as an “African Oscar Winner.”
It is not the first time Odile Koudou has been spotlighted for her artistic and creative contributions. She has also been honored by the World Music & International Film Festival for “The Blessing Legacy” as well as a Literary Arts Award from NAFCA
The subtitle of Odile’s award-winning book is “A Memoir of Africa, a Father’s Faith, and a Destiny Fulfilled.” It is a poignant narrative that begins in the Ivory Coast, moves to Paris, then lands America.
Last year “The Blessing Legacy” was transformed into a high-quality screenplay. Recently it was announced that Nollywood & African Film Critics' Awards (NAFCA) will co-produce a film based on the book. The production is expected to be a topic of discussion by the principals at the NAFC Awards Night on Sept. 17 at the Alex Theatre performing arts and entertainment center in Glendale. Ms. Koudou plans to attend.
Here’s what NAFCA put it: “Odile Koudou is daughter to Orega Koudou, a poor farmer, but Orega possesses unequaled faith in an Almighty power that fills him with joy, and he believes solid education is the key to his daughter’s success. His faith that he instills in his daughter Odile convinces her that, with it, she can achieve anything.”
In her book the award-winning author expressed herself this way: “Africa, oh Africa,” she wrote. “You are a wonderful and beautiful continent, a platform full of rich resources and hardworking people, but your people are limited by a ‘cannot’ mindset.”
The women of Africa hold a special place in her heart.
“My vision is to give hope for the hopeless—especially the woman, the African woman,” Odile said, adding that, “There is hope when you believe in God.”
“The Blessing Legacy” is available at Barnes & Noble, XulonPress.com and Amazon (paperback $16.99; hardback, $26.99; Kindle, $8.49). For more information, visit http://theblessinglegacy.com.
