BoomWriter Media & Highlander Institute Partner for Rhode Island Educators Technology Heroes Program
Milton, Mass. (PRWEB) October 24, 2014 -- BoomWriter Media, the award-winning educational technology website, announced today its partnership with the Providence-based non-profit Highlander Institute on a statewide offering of BoomWriter’s Technology Heroes Program to all Rhode Island educators. The Technology Heroes Program seeks to “help teachers be champions of technology in their classrooms,” and to provide students with an engaging and academically beneficial learning experience. The Highlander Institute shares in this mission through their community of educators and professionals working to improve the educational experience of all learners in Rhode Island.
BoomWriter and the Highlander Institute are making the Tech Heroes Program available to all Rhode Island-based educators and their students. "We are excited to work with BoomWriter to bring their platform to all Rhode Island educators through the EdTechRI initiative,” said Roshni Mirchandani, Technology Integration Specialist at Highlander Institute. “As we strive to move the state towards blended learning, tools such as BoomWriter are crucial to creating a personalized environment in which students are the drivers of their own learning."
BoomWriter has conducted the Tech Heroes Program with school districts all over the country, including Boston Public Schools, Chicago Public Schools, Oakland Unified School District, and Baltimore City Public Schools. “We’re very excited to be partnering with Highlander Institute and making the BoomWriter Tech Heroes Program available to all Rhode Island educators,” said Ken Haynes, COO and co-founder of BoomWriter Media. “Having been an educator myself,” Haynes continued, “I am thrilled to be supporting teachers on a statewide level, and I know BoomWriter’s group-writing platform will provide students with an engaging and impactful academic experience.” In a Spring 2013 survey conducted with participating teachers from Boston and Chicago Public Schools, 97% of teachers “would consider using BoomWriter again” and 95% found BoomWriter “an effective instructional tool."
Through BoomWriter’s interactive group-writing platform, students collaborate with their classmates on creative writing projects that are then turned into published books. With participation in Tech Heroes, each student and teacher will be provided with their own free copy of the book they created. BoomWriter and the Highlander Institute will kick off the Rhode Island Educators Technology Heroes Program at the third annual RIDE Innovation Powered by Technology Conference on Saturday October 25, 2014.
