Popular TV Series Breaking Bad Inspires Albuquerque Tours and Products - Show Premieres August 11th

Breaking Bad is set and filmed in Albuquerque, which has been praised by members of the cast and crew throughout their time filming in the destination.
“Once you get into the neighborhoods, you realize it [Albuquerque] possesses a great amount of culture and history and natural beauty surrounding it,” said Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan in a recent New York Times interview.
The anticipation is building this week for the final season, which is set to air on AMC beginning this Sunday, August 11th. Albuquerque locals have community watch parties scheduled for Sunday evening complete with Breaking Bad candy, beer and donuts.
The acclaim earned by the show over the past few years has driven interest from around the world, even in countries where it is not aired on network television.
“We are reaching a new potential visitor audience that may not have considered Albuquerque for vacation in the past through shows like Breaking Bad. People want to come here and see the actual locations where the filming is taking place,” said Dale Lockett, President/CEO of the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Albuquerque has become a vacation destination for many Breaking Bad viewers. Many of the show’s popular filming locations are benefiting from those visiting the city.
Entrepreneurial business owners have created a variety of offerings related to the show from trolley and bike tours of film locations to Breaking Bad inspired beer, candies and bath salts.
Breaking Bad Inspired Products
Albuquerque's Marble Brewery will introduce Walt's White Lie and Heisenberg's Dark Ale on Thursday, August 8th in time for the final episodes of season 5 to premiere. Get the details.
The Candy Lady, an established candy maker in Old Town Albuquerque, offers Breaking Bad Candy selling for $1 per bag. She has received orders from around the world.
Great Face and Body, a local spa product manufacturer, created a line of bath salts called Bathing Bad. The spa also sells a spice line inspired by Los Pollos Hermanos including seasonings and a new fried chicken batter mix. They recently introduced a BrBa candy product as well that can be ordered for your Breaking Bad watch parties. The makers of Bathing Bad recently introduced a Breaking Bad Cooking Class where you leave with your own candy and a bag of Bathing Bad Bath Salts.
Rebel Donuts has three locations around Albuquerque that offer the "Blue Sky Donut" as a tribute to Breaking Bad.

The ABQ Trolley Co. offers a weekly 3.5-hour “BaD Tour” of filming locations from the show such as Walter White’s house, Tuco’s headquarters, Pollos Hermanos and more.
Routes Bicycle Rentals & Tours is offering Biking Bad tours for guests get a first-hand experience of moments from the series, key locations and characters.
