BrightStar Care Connects with People Suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia
Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) September 01, 2016 -- September 2016 marks the fifth World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to raise awareness and challenge stigma. This year’s theme is “Remember Me,” which BrightStar Care of Edmond/Oklahoma City takes to heart. BrightStar, a home care agency that also provides medical staffing solutions, in honor of World Alzheimer’s Month introduces its “BrightStar Connections” in-home Alzheimer’s and Dementia program, the only one of its kind.
“BrightStar Connections provides Dementia-specific care management and individualized consultation led by a Registered Nurse with special training in Dementia. The program aims to assist individuals living with Dementia to live with dignity and purpose in the safety of their own home,” said Ken Fearnow, owner of BrightStar Care of Edmond/Oklahoma City. “It also enables those suffering from Alzheimer’s or Dementia to enjoy optimal health and emotional well-being and maintain connections to the people, places, things and memories that matter most to them.”
BrightStar Connections, which offers a higher standard of memory care, provides professional care for early, middle and late-stage Dementia. BrightStar staff associated with the program have received special certification to make home care unique and specialized for clients. Training involves several hours of self-study and classroom training, role-playing, and learning about challenges for people with Dementia and how to help and support them.
“We teach staff members to look beyond the disease and view the client they are assisting as the individual God made them to be,” said Fearnow. “The program requires our caregivers to have a minimum of one year of experience and become certified in the BrightStar Care Dementia approach.”
