Geographic information systems, or GIS, is a field that merges data collection and mapping in order to analyze and assess real-world problems. GIS has evolved from a specialized geography tool to encompass a suite of transdisciplinary analytical approaches that are being used in a wide variety of fields, including health, public policy, transportation, business, education, humanitarian relief, and environmental affairs.
GIS Day is celebrated annually with independent events around the world. It provides a forum for users of GIS technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society.
CGU's Academic Computing Building is at 130 E. 9th St. in Claremont.
