This will be an opportunity for members of the community to get help with their naturalization applications.

“This will be an opportunity for members of the community to get help with their naturalization applications,” said Carlos, who is a native of Colombia. “I will be volunteering at the event, and we are hoping to get more attorneys involved.”

Services at the Hispanic Unity of Florida event, which will take place at 5811 Johnson Street, Hollywood, FL, include consultation with an immigration attorney and completion of the N-400 application for naturalization, which is used to apply for U.S. citizenship through the naturalization process.

“Those who plan on attending should bring all passports, driver’s license, Social Security Card and Permanent Residency Card (Green Card),” said Carlos. “Also have on hand, marriage or divorce dates, sons’ or daughters’ dates of birth and your current home address.”

Other things to consider include that you must be at least 18 years of age, a legal permanent resident for at least five years, or, if you are married to a U.S. citizen, you must have been a legal permanent resident for at least three years. You must also possess a basic knowledge of U.S. government and history, must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English and must have good moral character.
