David and Danny Brannigan lead moderately successful and innocent lives in Australia. That is, until Danny is murdered and David is pinned for the crime. “The Cooktown Grave” (published by Trafford Publishing), the new book from author Carney Vaughan, follows David’s quest to evade his brother’s killers and wrongful imprisonment for his murder.

Danny was a normal guy with a normal job as an accountant. In his line of work however, Danny upsets the wrong people and winds up dead. Through a combination of bad police work and lack of evidence, David is believed to be responsible for his brother’s murder, and is forced to flee to North Queensland, where he works with a fishing crew for 10 years, giving him a sense of stability and safety.

David’s illusion of safety is shattered however, when Danny’s assailants catch up with him, and assault him into a coma. Upon recovering from his coma, David finds solace with a nurse who hopes to aid David in any way possible while he runs from his assailants and a detective with a chip on his shoulder.

Touching on drug trafficking and the violence it causes, police drama and even a bit of romance, “The Cooketown Grave” aims to entertain readers.
