“I hope to get children thinking about how exciting, or even scary, it is to try something new and different,” Young says. “I want them to come away from the book wanting to take a chance and learn to surf.”

Author Carol Young introduces young readers to a talking, surfing Australian shepherd in her new children’s series’ debut book, “The Adventures of Chloe Zoe Young: Chloe's Surfing Adventure” (published by WestBow Press).

Chloe the Australian shepherd loves to watch the surfers at the beach. After spending many hours wishing she could ride the surf, the blue-eyed Aussie gets her chance when a kind-hearted surfer takes her on the ride of her life.

Through rhyming verse and a seek-and-find activity, Young engages youthful readers with both entertainment and learning.

“I hope to get children thinking about how exciting, or even scary, it is to try something new and different,” Young says. “I want them to come away from the book wanting to take a chance and learn to surf.”

An excerpt from “The Adventures of Chloe Zoe Young”:

“They said goodbye to the sun as it set.
This was a day Chloe would never forget!”
