SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) August 06, 2013 -- Cemetery.us.org is launching a drive to educate consumers about burial scam artists who target grieving family members, the company said yesterday.
“When we launched our company last month, we had no idea how many scam artists are in the burial industry,” a Cemetery.us.org spokesman said. “But we heard complaints from our customers and did our own investigation, and we were shocked by what we found. We felt it was our duty to educate people about this growing problem.”
Cemetery.us.org is building a special section in their site that will provide people with information about how burial scams work and the best ways to avoid them, he said.
“One of the most common types of scam is double-selling a burial plot,” he said. “Then a few years after your loved one dies, they may actually be dug up and moved to the side to allow room for a new body. That should not happen to anyone at such a vulnerable time.”
Caskets that are supposed to preserve the loved one's body forever are another common scam, the Cemetery.us.org spokesman said.
“In fact, these treatments can actually cause the body to explode once they are in the ground,” he said. “I, for one, find that deeply disturbing.”
As Cemetery.us.org learns more about how burial scam artists work they will also upload the information to their social media sites, he said.
“This type of scam disgusts us,” he said.
