EC-Council’s Certified CISO (CCISO) Program Brings Innovative Hybrid Training to Albuquerque, NM
Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) April 15, 2017 -- EC-Council, creator of the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) program, has seen the popularity of its executive information security program grow exponentially over the last two years and has offered the class in cities across the US. The Albuquerque class run last month, was hosted at EC-Council’s North American headquarters and drew students from surround areas as well as Florida, New Jersey, Virginia, and Michigan. Students in the class represented companies as diverse as Clearcost Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, ISACA, SPAWAR Systems Command, Munson Healthcare, Cott Corporation, i9 Technologies, Abba Technologies, and the National Counterterrorism Center.
About half of the students who took the class attended via EC-Council’s iWeek platform, which allows students to attend the class remotely from their homes or offices. The fact that there were students in person as well as online led to good class discussions, something that isn’t always present with online classes.
Gary Florez, Director of Engineering for Albuquerque company Abba Technologies said “There were people from basically all over the United States, (people in) public sector, private sector jobs sharing their work experience with the class. It made me feel like I’m not the only one dealing with these types of situations and was able to learn from their experiences.” Founded in 1993, Abba Technologies is an employee-owned and operated firm specializing in IT consulting, integration and support. Headquartered in Albuquerque NM with locations throughout the U.S., Abba delivers IT support and integration services to small, medium and large firms with their ITWORKS and CLOUDWORKS managed service offerings. Abba Technologies reports they are “pleased to have a C|CISO on staff to assist us in our Cyber Security practice, protecting our customers’ data from predators.”
All the students in the class were there to take their careers to the next level – either by learning how to make the jump from the middle manager to executive or by honing their executive skills.
Students’ feedback about the class was enthusiastic. Said Lisa Courts, Chief of Cyber Security Assessments for the National Counter-Terrorism Center “I looked at the course curriculum and I was excited about the five domains and the opportunity to complete it in a week and it’s a requirement now for our job. If you’re looking to go into management or are in management in the cyber security career field, it’s an absolute must. Each domain will strengthen your skillset and your knowledge. As soon as I get back I’m going to apply several things that I learned.”
The CCISO program was designed by sitting CISOs in an effort to support managers and executives charged with leading information security programs. The CCISO program addresses the executive skills that many are expected to learn on the job. EC-Council believes that the role of the CISO is far too important to leave to trial and error learning. There has been a trend for CISOs to earn their MBAs, but that is not an option available to all aspiring and current CISOs and the CCISO program fills the need for deeper business knowledge.
Each domain of the program was specifically designed to address an aspect of a CISO’s daily life. Domain 1 deals with the governance and policy issues central to creating the framework for a program. Domain 2 delves into the audit and risk management that is at the heart of creating and sustaining an effective program. Domain 3 deals with the day-to-day responsibilities of a CISO like program leadership and operations. Domain 4 is a look at some of the technical responsibilities a CISO has but always from an executive point of view. Domain 5 is all about the strategic planning, financial management, and vendor management that make the CISO such a vexing position at times.
