LARKR Co-Founder Presents at California’s Substance Use Disorders Statewide Conference Just Ahead of App’s Launch
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 11, 2017 -- Shortly ahead of the forward-thinking mental health app’s launch, LARKR Co-Founder and licensed marriage and family therapist Christianne Kernes recently presented at the California Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS) Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Statewide Conference.
The conference, which took place August 22-25, 2017 in Pomona, CA, was entitled “Focusing the SUD Systems of Care Toward Recovery.” Its events revolved around the creation of opportunities to improve substance use disorder services throughout California, and the best methods to affect change. Various plenary sessions and workshops educated and inspired attendees to continue improving the field, with addiction recovery at the forefront.
Kernes led a workshop, along with her colleagues, outlining the best practices for leaders and managers to consider when implementing a cultural change within an organization and how it relates to SUD recovery. The session provided concrete tools on how to tend to company culture while also embracing innovation to keep up with a rapidly changing industry.
“Substance use is a prevalent issue in our society that is only increasing, as evidenced by the growing conversation around the opioid epidemic, so it’s important to come together as professionals to determine how we can provide better systems of care and recovery support for people affected,” said Kernes. “It was an honor to present at the SUD conference and I look forward to implementing many of the great ideas my colleagues and I took away from the event.”
Kernes is also just weeks ahead of the launch of the new mental health care smartphone app she co-founded. Dubbed LARKR, the app is poised to revolutionize the mental health industry by making video chat therapy with a licensed therapist available on-demand. The app will minimize the top barriers to therapy – accessibility, affordability and stigma – for people suffering from substance use disorders and other mental health conditions. LARKR will be available soon in the Apple App Store, and will later be coming to Android devices, as well.
Christianne Kernes is available to speak on this topic at any upcoming conference. For inquiries contact Elian Dombey at (954) 637-4393 or at elian(at)redbanyan(dot)com.
