New Memoir ‘No Longer Confined’ Recalls Author’s Strength Through Adversity
Atlanta (PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- Author Christopher D. Coleman has never had it easy. His life began with him pronounced dead in the delivery room – until he started to cry. Doctors then realized Coleman had cerebral palsy. Coleman not only had to learn to adapt with the condition he was born with, but also the racism and questions about his own sexual identity.
“No Longer Confined: One Man’s Triumphant Pursuit of Truth, Wholeness, and Freedom” (published by iUniverse) is Coleman’s autobiographical account of his struggle. His mother was told Coleman would never read and would have many mental impairments. Coleman, however, was born a fighter. He graduated fifth in his high school class and became the first college graduate in his family. Coleman was determined to never be confined by any of the labels applied to him: disabled, black or gay. His faith in God saw him through many difficult times.
An excerpt from “No Longer Confined”:
“As a disabled man, I know that greatness is not in me, but it flows through me. I can rejoice in the fact that God works great things through the weakest, littlest, and poorest men. God did not change my situation; He changed my heart.”
