Claire’s Place Foundation, a non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis, welcomes Dr. Leila Yoonessi and David Martell to the organization’s board of directors.
Dr. Yoonessi is a pediatric pulmonology fellow at Miller Children’s Hospital, Long Beach with a passion for the treatment of respiratory diseases. She is currently a board certified pediatrician and has several studies pending publication. On a personal level, Dr. Yoonessi had a childhood friend who lived with cystic fibrosis without complaint and inspired her to research in the pulmonology field in the hope of improving the quality of life and reducing the mortality and morbidity of children living with respiratory disease.
David Martell is a veteran in the financial services industry with experience and a passion for fundraising for charitable organizations. Currently, David is an account executive with a large firm in the commodities industry where he is responsible for the buying and selling of new and rare precious metals. Previously, David was the primary fundraiser for an outreach educational organization. He conducted fundraising strategy and outreach trained other fundraisers.
"We are so excited to have Dr. Yoonessi and Mr. Martell join our board," said Claire’s Place Foundation Executive Director Melissa Nordquist. "As our foundation grows, it is critically important to have the best community leaders focused on the issues and education of cystic fibrosis for children and families struggling with the illness and the emotions and financial needs that come with it."
