Clean Markets (http://www.cleanmarketswork.com), a leading market development firm expanding the US market for clean energy technologies, announced today that it has joined the growing movement of Certified B Corporation™ (or “B Corp”) businesses.

B Corporations follow a new business model to earn profit while working to solve some of the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems.

Clean Markets develops and implements marketing and outreach strategies for clean energy programs on behalf of major Northeast utilities, government agencies, and corporations. Since its inception in 2008, the company has developed residential and commercial energy efficiency programs, trained thousands of utility trade allies, managed hundreds of customer and media events, and provided direct consultation to more than 1,000 utility customers.

B Lab, the B Corporation certification body, recognized Clean Markets as a B Corp for its track record of creating environmental and social benefits for stakeholders across the Mid-Atlantic region as well as for its own employees.

“Clean Markets is proud to be a member of the growing B Corp community,” said Ellen Lutz, Clean Markets Founder and CEO. “The certification reflects our team’s commitment to transform existing energy markets by increasing consumer demand for energy efficiency and clean energy products and services. It also reflects our commitment to providing an inspired learning and work environment for our employees”

The latest Clean Markets effort is the Building Retrofit Investment Model, B-RIM, a patent pending energy efficiency analysis tool that aims to break down existing barriers to efficiency projects in multi-family and commercial buildings. The proprietary software is being piloted this summer.

Clean Markets is a certified woman-owned business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States.
