‘Cold Bill’ presents R. A. Mello’s refreshing take on classic horror
DEL CITY, Okla. (PRWEB) February 23, 2015 -- Based on a nightmare so terrifying that R. A. Mello had to write it down to get it out of his head, “Cold Bill” (published by Xlibris) is a page-turning, graphic horror thriller written in a similar vein as Louis Stevenson’s “The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.”
The novel centers on Bill Colden and his one true love, Abigail Josephine Lux. Theirs is a troubled love story as they both have to deal with seemingly endless conflict and impossible situations as they struggle desperately to reunite with one another. However, Bill also has an internal conflict with his inner beast, who he simply refers to as Cold Bill. As Bill draws close to home and Abigail, his beast presents him with terrifying, often taboo, situations. All the while, a darker evil waits in the background, stalking ominously in the edge of awareness until a most pivotal moment.
“In today’s society, we have become resistant to the horrors of life, partly due to the internet,” said Mello. “So why pander to what people will so easily criticize ‘seen it, done it, look it up on Youtube.’ Why not take a page from the greats and not allow evil to get-away-with-it?”
This novel is Mello’s new take on classic horror, which he hopes to present to society as a breath of fresh air. He presents a terrifying glimpse into one man’s journey to the absolute fringes of desperation in a story that captures both the embodiment of unrequited love and deep longing. It is a heartfelt story with a great underlying love story that is able to draw a few laughs even as it works to scare the living hell out of its readers.
“Cold Bill” is slated to be the first of many books in what Mello hopes to grow into the Silverlight Series.
