Advanced Precision Machining Closes Out Year of Growth, Capital Investment, and Long Term Initiatives
Longmont, Colorado (PRWEB) December 31, 2013 -- Advanced Precision Machining, a leading Colorado milling and machining operation, announced today that demand for its CNC precision machine parts experienced a significant increase over the course of the year. In 2013, the Longmont machine shop further established itself in the manufacturing sector by confronting the labor shortage head-on, and implementing in-house ISO and ITAR certification procedures.
In addition to these growth initiatives, Advanced Precision Machining (APM) expanded its CNC machining operation by adding to its inventory of cutting-edge CNC machining tools and software technology. The acquisition of a Zeiss Metrology Spectrum II Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), for example, is already paying dividends. According to APM co-owner Gerry Dillon, “As our biggest capital investment of the year, the Zeiss has delivered on the level of accuracy and efficiency our industry demands, and at the same time, has allowed us to work with even larger companies requiring certain inspection reports and material certifications.” This year’s implementation of Exact JobBOSS shop management software has allowed APM to operate more efficiently. Many outdated, manual processes have been replaced, resulting in shorter lead times, flexible scheduling, and on-time job deliveries.
In 2013, APM’s long-term growth initiatives included a partnership with Front Range Community College (FRCC) to deliver more qualified CNC machinists to the workforce, and initiation of full ISO and ITAR certification and compliance procedures. In response to the labor shortage in Colorado, and increased demand for precision manufacturing services, Co-owner Kirk Tuesburg is now teaching CNC machine shop techniques at FRCC. According to Kirk, “Many well paying jobs are available, and we feel this sort of initiative fills an industry gap by directly responding to precision manufacturing labor and supply needs.”
The company is also proud to announce they are one final step closer to full adherence with ISO-9001 and ITAR certification standards. APM has written, updated, and submitted procedures and quality control manuals specific to the milling and machining industry, and is now awaiting certification.
