The Cottages Investment Group Announces Third Development Project, The Cottages at MeadowLands Memory Care, Oconto Falls
Oconto Falls, WI (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- The Cottages Investment Group, LLC introduces their third development project, The Cottages at MeadowLands Memory Care, to break ground July 30, 2014. Focusing on the growing population of those suffering from memory loss and forms of dementia, Wade T. Micoley, owner of W.M. Enterprises, Inc., has approved the development of Oconto Fall’s first assisted living facility with a focus on memory care. Cara Peterson, GM of The Cottages Investment Group, LLC will license the facility as a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF). The Cottages at MeadowLands Memory Care will be located next to the the firm’s most recent acquisition, The Cottages at MeadowLands Assisted Living, 715 E. Highland Drive, Oconto Falls, WI. The facility will offer 16 private suites and a higher staff to resident ratio, assuring the residents of the Memory Care will have the specialized care and attention needed 24/7. The new business will bring 15-20 new healthcare jobs to Oconto County.
Although a diagnosis of a dementia, such as Alzheimer disease, is not a prerequisite to live there, The Cottages at MeadowLands Memory Care staff will be trained in Dementia Care under the direction of Katherine Graham, Workplace Education Specialist with the Alzheimer's Association Greater Wisconsin Chapter. The local chapter has been instrumental in encouraging facilities to move forward with new design ideas and development of memory care services and programs. "The Cottages has taken the lead in organizing the Wolf River Region annual Fall Forget-Me-Not Fashion Show for the last 2 years, bringing in thousands of dollars to fund education and services to our local communities and caregivers. The Alzheimer Association has been a great resource of training and information for not only The Cottages employees, but our families as well. The Memory Care facility will be a secured building that will emphasize freedom within, without the need for wanderguard bracelets or anklets. Dignity and excellence of care will be priority, which has already been demonstrated in the Cottages Investment Group’s first two ventures, The Cottages on Golden Pond Assisted Living & Memory Care in Shawano, WI. Peterson, who is also the General Manager of the Shawano locations, will over see the start up and ongoing operations of all four facilities. The Cottages Memory Care can admit anyone 65 and older with a need for assisted living, but primary focus is on those with memory loss, whether it be from a stroke or disease, or diagnosed with a dementia such as Alzheimer’s Disease. The Cottages will also be able to assist families with short term stay rehab for strengthening or continued therapy following a hospital or nursing home stay. In-house therapy and hospice services will be offered through local home health and hospice companies of the resident or families choosing. All care and medication management is supervised and directed by licensed professionals.
Construction of the new building is scheduled for completion in December, 2014. Prior to opening,
