D.C. Donahue Captures Magic of Christmas Past and Present in New Book
DREXEL HILL, Penn. (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Author D.C. Donahue has fond memories of Christmas with his family while decorating the tree or gathering around the table as some favorite holiday songs play. His new book, “A Glimpse from Christmas Past” (published by AuthorHouse), captures the magic of the holiday season. It is his hope that this book will inspire readers to share family traditions and local experiences with loved ones in keeping memories alive for future generations.
"It’s like a priceless moment we try to capture in film, e.g. when a child dear to us opens that special gift from Santa on Christmas morning," says Donahue.
One magical Christmas Eve, a young man passes by a shop window and sees a child sitting on Santa’s lap. He looks on as the scene unfolds and is reminded of a special Christmas memory. As the child hops down, Santa makes eye contact and they are immediately taken back to a moment they both had shared.
An excerpt from "A Glimpse from Christmas Past":
"One last child, list in hand, stood anxiously beaming with delight…waiting to see Santa in full regalia on this magical wondrous night. Gently he lifted the child to his lap with a roar of a laugh and smile. I watched him whisper in their ear, listening intently all the while. They told him of the gifts they wanted as he assured them he would try. Saying 'only if you promise to be good all year' as he awaited their reply.
He said, 'The elves keep me in the know of the children who are naughty or nice. So be sure to listen to your parents and teachers; heeding their advice. He added, 'Don't forget to leave some goodies on a table by the door…as this business of delivering toys and gifts is certainly no easy chore.'"
Donahue hopes to inspire children with the magic of the holiday season while reminding them that the true joy is in keeping Christ in Christmas. He writes, "We were taught the Christmas season is a time of reflection and renewal before we greet the New Year."
