DePuy Hip Settlement News: Number of Federal Pinnacle Cases Now Exceeds 5,000, Rottenstein Law Group LLP Reports
(PRWEB) December 06, 2013 -- The number of DePuy Pinnacle hip lawsuits in federal court increased by 100 in November, putting the total number of pending lawsuits at about 5,300, according to recently released court documents. The Rottenstein Law Group LLP, which represents clients in DePuy hip lawsuits and maintains the DePuy lawsuits informational website at http://www.metalhiplawsuitattorney.com, discusses the Pinnacle lawsuits and their relation to DePuy settlements.
There are currently 5,293 Pinnacle lawsuits pending in Texas in a consolidation of federal court cases for pretrial efficiency, according to court documents (In re: DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc., Pinnacle Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation; MDL-22244, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas).
Pinnacle lawsuits are not included in the recently announced multibillion dollar DePuy settlement, according a Nov. 27 Bloomberg report.* However, like the ASR hip implant that is included in the settlement, the Pinnacle has the potential to cause serious alleged side effects such as device failure and metal poisoning, according to court documents. Unlike the ASR, which was recalled in 2010, the Pinnacle hip implant is still on the market.
“An increasing number of lawsuits is not surprising,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP. “We are hearing more and more each day from people who seek legal counsel because of the alleged side effects of the Pinnacle.”
Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics agreed to the multibillion dollar DePuy ASR settlement last month as a way to resolve a majority of the ASR lawsuits pending, according to a Nov. 20 New York Times report.**
The Rottenstein Law Group LLP encourages those who believe they have suffered from the Pinnacle’s alleged side effects to visit its FAQ page to learn more about DePuy Pinnacle hip lawsuits and side effects, and how to contact an attorney for a free consultation.
