Debbie Petrie Shares Her Husband’s Battle with Addiction in New Book
Victoria, British Columbia (PRWEB) January 14, 2014 -- According to Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.), more than 2,000,000 men and women call themselves members of this unique, worldwide fellowship of people who meet to attain and maintain sobriety. “Tom's Story: Don't Believe The Lie” (published by Trafford Publishing), chronicles one man’s heartbreaking journey through A.A.’s 12 step recovery program by means of his recovery journals, published posthumously by his wife, Debbie Petrie.
After Tom’s suicide, Debbie compiled his journals, hoping to offer inspiration to others suffering from and struggling with their addictions. Tom’s journals depict his great effort, and success, as he works through A.A.’s 12 step program. This insider’s perspective of the fight for freedom from addiction has a shocking ending that reminds readers not to think they can go back for just one more high.
A review from the U.S. Review of Books of “Tom’s Story”:
“It is worth the effort to absorb the sense of honesty and urgency in the words of a man who believes he is writing for no eyes but his own. While Tom didn't achieve the long life he hoped for, there is no reason why the next Tom can't. Published so others can see how well he was doing while he was sober, Tom's Story can provide ample inspiration for anyone fighting the same battle.”
"Even if ‘Tom’s Story’ touches just one life,” Debbie says, “it will be all worthwhile."
