Denita Johnson’s New Children’s Book Explores Ups, Downs of Family Life
Beltsville, Md. (PRWEB) April 08, 2014 -- Author Denita Johnson has learned quite a bit about families from reading books to her seven children and seeing her own family’s stories unfold. Her new children’s book, “Little Eric Bunny” (published by AuthorHouse), shows – through a family of bunnies – the many differences families have while depicting family values.
Little Eric Bunny, better known as Little E, has three younger bunny sisters and sometimes, like all young siblings can do to their older siblings, Little E’s sisters get on his nerves.
When his sisters push him a little too far one day, Little E loses his temper. When their father recommends Little E go for a walk to calm down, Little E begins to think he might be better off with a different family. He tries out a bear family, a deer family and a fox family, among others, but all the other families make him feel better about his own.
“No family is perfect,” Johnson says. “My book shows the everyday problems of families.”
Johnson hopes readers will learn from Little E that their families are not the only ones with issues. She hopes that by seeing some of the challenges the bunny family goes through, readers will learn to embrace the imperfections of their own families.
