Diabetes Research Connection (DRC) Ends Double Your Dollars Campaign With Nearly $85K Raised On Giving Tuesday
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2016 -- Diabetes Research Connection (DRC) has ended their month-long Double Your Dollars campaign by raising nearly $85K on Giving Tuesday alone before announcing that they are returning to Gladitood to continue raising funds for T1D research. DRC is a donor-driven, non-profit that focuses on innovative T1D research and funding for early-career scientists.
Throughout November, the DRC Board matched every dollar donated in honor of National Diabetes Month, putting their final numbers at $84,656 raised just on Giving Tuesday. For the rest of 2016, DRC plans to keep raising money for their General Fund on Gladitood in order to help distribute money to researchers’ projects that are making the most difference in the T1D community.
“Hands down, this was an amazingly successful campaign thanks to the help of our supportive donors. This was our most successful Giving Tuesday yet,” said DRC spokesperson Christina Kalberg. “This campaign is going to take us a long way and really help out the researchers who work so hard to find new and innovative ways to cure type 1 diabetes.”
As National Diabetes Month, November was a great time for DRC supporters and donors to recognize that 40,000 people are diagnosed with T1D each year, and millions of other children and adults struggle every day with the autoimmune disease. By returning to Gladitood, DRC is able to continue spreading the word about funding research and reach an audience of individuals who are interested in supporting nonprofit projects that hit close to home.
DRC emphasizes that each donation helps early-career scientists put their research to the test and enables 100% of funds directed for T1D research to go directly to those scientists’ laboratories. Any donations to DRC through Gladitood are tax-deductible, and go towards helping find a cure for the autoimmune disease.
