Donna J. Jackson was recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) for 2016-2017. “It is a great honor to be part of this esteemed group of elder law attorneys,” said Jackson, an estate planning attorney and CPA.
The NAELA is an association of attorneys dedicated to improving the quality of legal services provided to older Americans and individuals with special needs. NAELA membership is comprised of attorneys in the private and public sectors, such as Jackson, who deal with legal issues affecting people as they age and people with disabilities.
Attorney Jackson focuses on Medicaid, VA benefits and special-needs planning, including trusts, special-needs trusts, wills, durable power of attorneys and living wills. Additionally, her practice areas includes taxes, probates and business organizations, including corporations, limited partnerships and limited liability companies.
Jackson obtained a BS and MS in accounting from Oklahoma State University. She received her JD degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1988 and her LLM in Elder Law from Stetson College of Law in Florida. In 2015, Jackson served as the Chair of Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Section Committee for the Oklahoma Bar Association, and in 2013 received the Earl Sneed Award from the Oklahoma Bar Association for her contributions to continuing legal education. Jackson also serves as the Chair of the Tax Steering Committee of NAELA.
“I have been active in NAELA since 1994,” said Jackson. “My practice is limited to helping the elderly and disabled, and I am looking forward to contributing to NAELA as a member of the board.”
