Douglas Pitassi had grown tired of the traditional boat storage options available in the Austin, Texas area. The frustration he felt led him to seek out alternatives, which ultimately resulted in the formation of the Austin Boat Service Program.
“The existing dock options are incredibly expensive in Austin, effectively pricing many boat owners out of a convenient storage option,” said Pitassi. “For those familiar with the Austin area, towing your boat to a launch location can be frustrating as well, which is why we came up with idea for the Austin Boat Service.”
The service is rather ingenious and it most closely resembles a valet. Pitassi was surprised that no one had thought of the idea before.
“I still cannot believe that no one had considered doing this before,” said Pitassi. “It makes sense from both a logical and economic standpoint, and we have had a great deal of success so far.”
The Austin Boat Service takes advantage of the cheaper dock space that is located just outside the Austin area, with Pitassi’s service bringing the boat to any launch point that the client desires. This makes dock fees much more manageable, and allows for boat owners to take advantage of multiple launch points. Pitassi even offers a multi-tiered maintenance program for clients to choose from.
“We see this as a great opportunity for boat owners who are looking for a cheaper and more versatile boat storage option,” said Pitassi. “For long-term or short-term storage, for frequent or infrequent boat use, our service is designed to meet the needs of any boat owner, regardless of the manner in which they use their boat.”
Pitassi’s customers have so far been pleased with the service, citing its convenience and financial feasibility as reasons for their approval. “It is a unique idea, and I love the fact that I can be anywhere in Austin and have my boat delivered to me in a moment’s notice,” said Robert Zimmerman. “The fact that Doug’s service is much cheaper than any other boat storage I have used before is simply a bonus.”
