Introducing the Best Back-to-School Gift for High School and College Students
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) July 25, 2017 -- DrinkingTutors.com, a subscription-based tutoring company, has launched an innovative tutorial service that helps parents prevent binge drinking on college campuses. They do this by providing high school and college students with a simple, convenient and continuous drinking-focused education.
“The problem is that most young adults are never taught how to drink responsibly,” says Will Franklin, DrinkingTutors.com’s CEO. “They move from their parents’ house, where drinking alcohol is forbidden and done in secret, to college, where drinking is celebrated and done in the open, with only a basic appreciation for the risks associated with binge drinking.” This may explain why, according to the Center for Disease Control, over 26% of college students binge drink on a regular basis.
The solution, according to DrinkingTutors.com, is to provide high school and college students with a drinking-focused education. They do this by mailing drinking-focused tutorials, or ‘drinktorials,' directly to students’ homes every week. The 'drinktorials' feature interviews with different subject matter experts, including emergency medical technicians (EMTs), bartenders, young professionals and college students. The interviews are designed to be both educational and motivational, highlighting the serious risks associated with binge drinking, as well as the various techniques people use to drink in a healthy, responsible way. Each ‘drinktorial’ also comes with a weekly planner that can be used to write down drinking- and health-related goals.
“We wanted to offer parents an affordable, effective and ongoing way to teach their children about the risks associated with binge drinking,” claims Franklin.
The offer is timely, as binge drinking in American colleges and universities has evolved into a public health crisis. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), every year approximately 1,825 college students die from unintentional alcohol-related injuries, 696,000 are assaulted by another student who has been drinking, 97,000 are victims of alcohol-related sexual assault or date rape, and about 599,000 are injured while under the influence of alcohol. The Center for Disease Control also warns of sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancy, memory and learning problems, and alcoholism as consequences of binge drinking.
