New Book ‘Seishin’ Seeks to Inspire Humility in Readers
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (PRWEB) July 10, 2015 -- Author Eli Makenzie’s new children’s book, “Seishin” (published by Balboa Press), shares the parable of a washman and an inspiring lesson on cleansing and gratitude.
High in the mountains lives an old man who comes every day to his washtub out in a field. All day long, dirty people come to him and ask to be cleansed. Some of the dirt comes away easily, and some of it takes some scrubbing, but the washman never complains, even when folks treat him with disrespect.
Based on the teachings of a Japanese spiritual master, “Seishin” showcases one man’s cheerful attitude as he cares for others without complaint nor receives thanks for his efforts. Through the story, Makenzie hopes to inspire readers to clean up their attitude, to put their gratitude in action and become more open-hearted.
An excerpt from “Seishin”:
“That was so awful, but once I got warm, I was so content. I want to stay this way as long as I can”
