Empire Precision Plastics Expands Presence in Medical Device Market
Rochester, NY (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- With the addition of Application Engineer Thomas Bittlingmaier, Empire Precision Plastics completes an expansion of its team and capabilities to better serve its growing base of medical device customers.
“Tom brings experience in the medical device field, and international experience in plastic injection molding, from tooling to molding, and has worked with companies around the world,” said Neal Elli, President of Empire Precision. “He is working closely with our medical device customers to identify optimal ways to consistently manufacture exceptionally reliable parts and assemblies for their products.”
Bittlingmaier, who has more than 30 years of experience in injection molding, will serve the medical device, industrial and electronics industries. “I've always enjoyed troubleshooting and problem solving. This new role allows me to work directly with customers in improving their product appearance and performance,” Bittlingmaier said.
Other recent additions to Empire’s medical device repertoire include a new clean room for contract assembly and a full range of optics capabilities.
In 2012, Empire acquired the assets of a local optics company, making it one of the only plastic injection molders to also manufacture polymer optics in-house. With capabilities such as single-point-diamond-turning and advanced metrology, Empire completes plastic prototyping and full production of optical components for noninvasive and minimally invasive medical devices such as endoscopes.
