Revolutionary Learning 2015: Using Games and Simulations to Solve Critical Issues in Public Health

Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 07, 2015 -- On May 20, the Center for Game and Simulation-Based Learning at Excelsior College will host Revolutionary Learning 2015, a symposium exploring the use of digital games and simulations to solve contemporary public health issues like diabetes, drug addiction, and veteran health care.

The one-day conference, to be held at the Renaissance Washington in Washington, DC, will include a variety of presentations, hands-on workshops, and exhibits by many of America’s top contemporary game and simulation companies, designers, educators, and public health experts. Topics to be explored include:

  • using interactive narratives to stimulate positive changes in attitudes and behavior,
  • leveraging games, simulations and analytics within a variety of learning contexts,
  • using virtual worlds to combat and cope with chronic illnesses like diabetes,
  • building virtual health care campuses for veterans,
  • training health care providers via immersive learning simulations on preventative health and shared-decision making, and
  • creative problem solving in public health (workshop).

The keynote address will be presented by Sharon Sloane, president and CEO, WILL Interactive. The complete presenter roll includes:
