Fiona Rowe hosts ‘Visual Field Evaluation Course’ at this year’s ESCRS, London

On Sunday, 14th September 2014, Dr Fiona Rowe, from Liverpool University will be hosting a two hour ‘Visual Field Evaluation Course’ which will provide an overview of visual assessment fields. The course will be free to all delegates attending the ESCRS congress and it will be held in Capital Suite 6, level 3 of the ExCel in London from 14.30 to 16.30.
Dr Fiona Rowe is a leading expert in the orthoptic field and currently works as a senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool. Dr Rowe qualified as an Orthoptist in 1990 and has carried out extensive clinical and academic research activity since this time. Her main areas of research interests include; acquired brain injury, visual field evaluation and control of ocular alignment.
The work-shop style course is designed to educate on the principles and evaluation of perimetry as an essential component of the ophthalmic practice. The course will provide information on; visual pathway anatomy, methods of perimetry use for Humphrey visual field analyser, the Goldmann perimeter, the Octopus 900 perimeter, exploring visual field printout options and the interpretation of results using statistical packages provided by the perimeter systems.
In addition, aids to interpretation will include; discussion of the ocular symptoms and signs associated with lesions along the various parts of the visual pathway, possible localisation of lesion according to type of visual field defect plotted, plus artefacts of visual field defects and their avoidance.
