Greg Hoover and Blake Curtis, both Senior Vice Presidents at First Bank, were among 64 Virginia bankers to graduate in August from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. The three-year school is sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association in cooperation with the McIntire School of Commerce at UVA, and it was established as a way to broaden bankers’ knowledge in all aspects of banking, economics and related subjects. Hoover and Curtis completed the Bank Management Course, which includes three one-week resident sessions with extension problems between the first and second years and a comprehensive third-year problem.
“We at First Bank are extremely proud of employees like Greg and Blake who take the initiative to further their understanding of banking for the betterment of our company and our customers,” says Scott Harvard, President and CEO of First Bank. “We strive to provide our customers with the best products and services each and every day, and continuing education plays an important role in being able to achieve that.”
Greg Hoover joined First Bank as Senior Vice President/Branch Administrator in 2010. Outside of work with First Bank he serves as the Treasurer of the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival and on the Board of Directors for Strasburg Rotary.
