Anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

New York (PRWEB) September 18, 2013

In his new mystery novel, “Crooked” (published by AuthorHouse), author Frederick McClendon descends into seedy world of crime, corruption and electrifying suspense, where he faces both a dangerous mob and his own demons.

In “Crooked,” Kelly, a private investigator, is on a quest to kick his smoking habit. He tries a cold-turkey approach to stopping, but his decision leads to a series of terrifying dreams. He develops a gripping fear of sleep until he receives a call that submerges him into a corrupt underworld where he must investigate the murder of a mob boss.

An excerpt from “Crooked”:

“For the first time in over three weeks, Kelly was in charge. He knew what he had to do. Before he left the stranger, he opened the passenger door. He reached inside, snatched a 9mm from the stranger’s belt, and grabbed a cell phone that sat on the dash in front of the illuminated console. Kelly stepped out and closed the door. ‘By the time I go inside and come back, if you are not off my block, you die.’ Kelly walked home. As soon as he opened the first of the two doors that led into his house, the car sped by.”

McClendon hopes Kelly’s strength to face down his demons entertains and inspires readers. “Whatever in life you want to achieve, have the courage to ignore the voices that discourage you,” he says. “Anything is possible if you believe in yourself.”
