Author Fritz Fritzgerald Announces Publication of Debut Poetry Collection
TOPEKA, Kan. (PRWEB) June 02, 2017 -- With his debut poetry collection, “Excuse Me Waiter, but There’s a Flyswatter in My Soup: The Book for Everyone” (published by Archway Publishing), Fritz Fritzgerald hopes to give readers a laugh. Exploring the humorous side of life, Fritzgerald writes about the monster under the bed, eating until your stomach explodes and waking up naked in a department store.
Fritzgerald — who refers to himself as a 43-year-old child — was inspired to write the book by Shel Silverstein because Silvertein’s humor made the world better. “There are very few books on the market today that can be relatable and enjoyable — equally — to anyone from the ages of 1-100,” Fritzgerald says “We all need to laugh again; we all need to remember what it was like to see the world through the eyes of a child.”
Fritzgerald thinks that readers will relate to the book because everyone has shared experiences like losing a loved one, annoying a sibling or trying to hide something from a mother — only to have her mompowers bust them.
An excerpt of the poem, “Colorful Lessons” is from page one of his book:
I’m peeing yellow, peeing green, / And now peeing red and blue.
I’m peeing purple, peeing black, / And then brown and orange too.
I should have known that this would happen, / But my conscience was too faint. So I guess I’ve learned the hard way — / Do not drink the pretty paints.
