HITEC 2014 concludes with the recurring theme of cloud services and how it is revolutionizing the hotel industry. Several keynotes focused specifically on case studies that have been done demonstrating the industry is moving ever more quickly to cloud and subscription based services.
Scott Barneson, senior manager of Amazon Web Services, one of the main speakers at HITEC 2014 discussed the new adoption trends in the hospitality industry. “As options for how to use the cloud, such as hybrid deployments and subscription models continue to increase in variety and number, the question is no longer should we move to the cloud, but rather how should we move to the cloud to give our organization the greatest competitive edge” commented Barneson.
All reports revealed the same basic fact: cloud computing has changed the technological landscape. The technological method, partially because of its catchy title, is viewed by many as a trend. However, its growth has become so explosive that the field is now beyond the bounds of trendiness. It’s really become a computing revolution.
