Patient Route Systems (PatientRoute), a leader in improving hospital quality of care and efficiency through software, has announced that Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), the hospital of the GBMC HealthCare System, has successfully deployed its cloud-based solution. GBMC is a 255-bed acute care medical center that manages more than 26,700 inpatient cases and 60,000 emergency room visits annually.

Greater Baltimore Medical Center chose to implement PatientRoute now to further the results achieved when they first partnered with IHO in 2011. By leveraging these findings and instituting a real-time automated continuous improvement platform specific to their environment, GBMC expects to improve its operational margin by $5M per year while ensuring that over 96% of surgical patients will be guaranteed a bed in the optimal level of care within clinically acceptable times.

This approach has been proven to reduce readmissions, length of stay, hospital acquired infections, and overcrowding as recently reported in the New England Journal of Medicine (http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1307699).
