Women Network On Golf Course To Secure Big Business - Greater Women's Business Council To Host Golf Tournament And Conference For Power Of Partnering Marketplace Event
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- The Greater Women’s Business Council (GWBC) will bring hundreds of women in business together at their Power of Partnering (POP) Conference on Aug. 26-27, 2013. The two-day event will feature a golf tournament and conference to support women in business and encourage networking both on and off the golf course.
GWBC’s event comes fresh off the heels of the Augusta National Golf Club’s Masters Tournament held earlier this year. Augusta National made history last year as they announced the end of their 80-year rule banning female members, and introduced former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice and South Carolina financier, Darla Moore as their newest members.
Rice’s membership announcement has created a domino effect for women golfers and women business professionals by sparking an increased interest in the sport as a networking tool. As companies like UPS and AT&T continue to host golf tournaments and clinics to develop the skills of corporate women, the sport itself has seen its own growth in the number of female players.
Jodi Gill, President of The Expert Bench, attended last year’s POP Marketplace event as a novice golfer, but gained new relationships and invitations to future women in golf events. “Last year’s POP Golf Event partnered me with key female managers from AT&T and our sales director with a key manager of The Coca-Cola Company. The conversations on the golf course led to an invitation for me to join the Women of AT&T Golf, and from there key relationships throughout the company evolved, as did our strategy in supporting their marketing. We are in discussions with a marketing solution that will address a significant market opportunity for AT&T and The Experts Bench. Some of us are mediocre golfers and some are excellent, but you have to roll with the situation— which is exactly what I had to do last week when my AT&T golf partner took a sharp turn and I tumbled out of the golf cart! This year, there will be more of my TEB team at East Lake to build our network and transform our business. We can’t thank GWBC’s Roz Lewis enough for her passion about women business owners transforming their business through corporate networking on and off the golf course.”
GWBC’s POP Marketplace event is not just an opportunity for women professionals to network, but it also brings together companies both large and small to gain perspective and recognition. Shani Godwin, President of Communiqué USA, Inc., attended last year’s event as a new member.
“As newly certified members of GWBC, we thoroughly enjoyed participating in the POP Conference last year. Not only were we able to hear from dynamic speakers, but we were able to gain invaluable exposure for our firm, as a tradeshow exhibitor. It was a tremendous opportunity and allowed us to more easily connect with Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE) and corporate members alike," said Godwin.
Since women businesses produce more than $1.1 trillion in sales and are among the fastest growing businesses in the United States, corporations are quickly seeing their contribution to economic growth and the importance of creating more leadership opportunities for female professionals. The added awareness brings businesses like GWBC and its members hope for continued success and eager to create more opportunities like the POP Marketplace Event.
Roz Lewis, CEO of GWBC, said she is thrilled for this year’s event due to an appearance by New York Times bestselling author, John Gerzema. It will be the first time in Power of Partnering Marketplace history that the keynote speaker is a male. Gerzema’s latest book, “Athena Doctrine,” has been surveyed and inspired over 64,000 people worldwide, among them Shimon Peres, State of Israel President, and Karen Quintos, SVP and CMO of Dell.
“The overall message of Gerzema’s book is about how women (and men who think like them) will rule the future. It’s a catalyst for our attendees of women businesses and major corporations to transform their networks to become innovators, change agents and leaders in this economy,” said Lewis.
Day one of the event will provide women the opportunity to participate in the WAVE Golf Tournament at the exclusive East Lake Golf Club, home of the season-ending TOUR Championship for the PGA Tour. While playing the elite course, women will network, strengthen relationships and of course, enhance their golf skills. As they continue into day two’s POP Conference, women will experience a full-day of lucrative information to assist them in achieving business goals and procurement.
“The first day is an action-packed day full of networking, socializing and golfing. It’s an opportunity for these women to get to know each other and share ideas. The second day is packed with opportunities to hear from the experts on the Affordable Care Act, and transformational training on whole-life coaching that will have an effect on many of our women businesses and corporate professionals. Our afternoon sessions are slated for attendees to talk to the experts about access to cash for their businesses and matchmaking opportunities with corporations,” said Mignon Philpotts, program manager, GWBC.
