Gary Pettit’s new novel marches into major battles of 20th century
NORTHAMPTON, England (PRWEB) September 03, 2014 -- Author Gary Pettit was researching the Battle of Somme, which took the life of his great-grandfather in World War I, when he began considering the wars fought over the course of the 20th century. After gathering historical facts and accounts of soldiers, Pettit wrote his novel, “A Generation of Three” (published by AuthorHouse UK).
Covering the time from 1917 to 1969, the book focuses on the fictional Taylor family. The Taylors produce generation after generation of soldier. The book follows three generations of brothers in the Taylor lineage. As the years pass, there is a Taylor in each World War as well as the Korean and Vietnam Wars. All bear witness to pain, death and suffering. Back at home, the remaining Taylor family members try to understand the brutality of war while praying that their loved ones will return home.
“Whatever the reason, conflict is not the answer, and the story questions why one stranger should hate another enough to wish to end his life,” Pettit says. “The story points out those who suffer are the people caught up in conflict and not the state leaders or politicians who determine diplomacy will no longer suffice.”
