In “Farrel's Last Case” (published by Trafford Publishing), Gerald R. Wright’s new novel, a small-town detective fighting the usual small-town crimes runs into his own personal problems after he finds an enormous case on his hands.
After his divorce, detective chief inspector Ian Farrel’s problems only grow. He becomes embroiled in a drama with two women. His troubles with these women boil over into an investigation into gang violence and homicide. And that is only the beginning. Soon Farrel is tracking down a global crime syndicate and growing closer to an inevitable violent clash with the cartel.
An excerpt “Farrel's Last Case”:
“He paused and looked down with another sigh at the piles of paper work on his desk, most of it needing urgent attention and he with so little time to do it, and sighed yet again. After a moment or two, he looked up and raised his eyebrows as if surprised to see Copley still standing there.
‘Well then. Don’t just stand there, son. Sod off and get some work done; we’re looking to catch some villains today and maybe even a killer.’”
Wright’s goal with “Farrel's Last Case” is simply to entertain readers, and he intersperses humor throughout the intense drama and thrills. “It deals with an ordinary policeman with his own, very personal problems, learning to battle international criminals,” he explains. “Is he out of his depth? Don’t even mention that to him!”
