The Glenholme School Welcomes UCONN Huskies Soccer Player-Coaches to Campus
Washington, CT (PRWEB) August 25, 2015 -- Earlier this month, The Glenholme School, an independent co-educational, special needs board school, welcomed five player-coaches from the renowned University of Connecticut Men’s Soccer team to campus for a private demonstration and instructional clinic for the students at the school. In support of the school’s annual Parents’ Weekend fundraiser in May, the group eagerly volunteered their time and energy at the urging of Tristan Fappiano, one of the UCONN Husky player-coaches and a friend of Glenholme. Tristan was joined by Alex Sanchez, Mark Richards, Sebastian Brems, and Andrew Geres.
The UCONN player-coaches, each a sensation in Division I soccer, imparted their vast experience, incredible knowledge and easy-going demeanors to students in a Glenholme-exclusive, all-encompassing soccer clinic. The afternoon event featured footwork techniques, understanding tactics, warm-ups and cool-downs, fun drills for skill development, and the importance of proper nutrition in order to become the best athlete possible. Afterwards, the Huskies joined several students for a barbecue dinner and encouraging conversations.
Through it all, the UCONN player-coaches emphasized the importance of enjoying the dynamic game of soccer and how desire and working hard bring success. As they wrapped up their visit, one player-coach noted, “Anything is possible, as long as you love what you are doing.”
Students raved about the experience. One exclaimed, “The coaches made the clinic loads of fun. Now, I’m really excited about soccer.”
Each player coach affirmed their time spent with the students of Glenholme. Tristan Fappiano summed it up best when he said, “The students' enthusiasm is simply infectious!”
The athletics program at The Glenholme School strives to deliver highly engaging activities and instruction to encourage active involvement by students with the goal of fostering lifelong health and wellness and an understanding of working with others through collaboration and responsibility. Active involvement in athletic clinics such as the one delivered by the UCONN Men’s Division I Soccer player-coaches positively stimulates students' personal growth and helps them to develop an appreciation for others.
