Grace Century’s EHR Portfolio Company Receives Approval of 8th Patent
Ras Al Khaimah, UAE (PRWEB) March 09, 2015 -- International research and private equity consultancy Grace Century announced this week that its portfolio project, The Quantum Group, Inc., received communication from its patent attorney stating that the examiner from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) had advised that the company’s provisional patent, #13/770,301 - “System and Method for Coordinated Health Monitoring, Emergency Response, and Medical Record Delivery,” successfully completed all reviews by the USPT and officially issued as of March 3, 2015.
“Although this is Quantum’s 8th patent, in some, this patent is a first for us, as it incorporates and reinforces a number of our already issued patents, as well as patents pending from August 2008 through 2012,” said Noel Guillama, Quantum’s President and Chief Innovation Officer. “This enhances our claims, by building upon previous innovations, and further protects those patents referenced as we expand their scope. We have continued to use this process of incorporating issued patents for all our patents application since 2012 and going forward. This is patent will materially enhance of our third (3rd) patent issued on February 19, 2013, with a total of 19 new claims.”
The patent is core to the integration of electronic health records (EHRs) and/or mobile applications (mHealth), and/or fixed devices. The need is to transmit relevant medical information on a patient, to- and- from, emergency response personnel, nurses, physician and/or other care providers or coordinators.
The patent also allows for a dynamic Personal Wellness electronic Record® (PWeR®) which takes into account the patient’s location, environmental and social aspects. The software can request for medical information, the processing of information for the particular patient, and then provide real-time delivery of that information to a caregiver in a traditional medical treatment environment, or in an emergency situation, such as in a fire-rescue situation. “This is a rules-based platform application innovation, allowing for only relevant information to be queried and released to the requesting medical professional or medical facility,” Guillama added.
”Simply put, this allows for the sharing of relevant and lifesaving information more quickly and still in compliance with patient privacy regulations. This patent, among other things, permits emergency related indicators in a house, nursing home, or adult care living facility (ACLF), or on a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, to interact with monitoring personnel and dynamic EHR systems to handle both normal monitoring as well as emergency response,” according to Scott Wolf, Grace Century’s CEO.
