Graves Fowler Creative Celebrates 30 Years of Inspiring Design
Gaithersburg, MD (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- Innovation and evolution grounded in the fundamentals.
That’s the philosophy at Graves Fowler Creative that has driven 30 years of success in industry-leading design, strategic thinking, marketing solutions, web and mobile site design/development, print design and data visualization for non-profit organizations, government agencies and business in the Washington DC metropolitan area and beyond.
Their mission is to inspire, educate and call people to action for great causes.
Founded in September 1984 as a creative studio focused on the hands-on craft of graphic design for business communications, Graves Fowler Creative has since expanded to encompass marketing strategy, branding and a full range of communications services.
Over three decades, the firm’s clients have included government agencies, nonprofit organizations and businesses invested in healthcare, housing, education, philanthropy, advocacy, consumer protection, international development issues and preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.
“Creating the highest quality design—design that can be an agent of change—is where we began and remains our focus today,” said Theresa Graves, co-founder and president. “We’re always looking for new ways to put ‘design thinking’ to work for people who don’t even know they need it. At its best, our work is simultaneously transparent and transformational. Douglas Martin, a colleague of ours, puts it best: the alternative to good design is bad design, not no design at all.”
Graves recounts her firm’s early embracing of web technology and realization that the internet would drive communications. To that end, years ago the firm partnered with web experts who could support their design thinking with solid back-end technology. Now, in 2014 as they move increasingly toward online solutions, Graves emphasizes that the firm’s approach will remain grounded in design thinking and strategy and advises that print is not dead and sometimes, is still the better solution.
“The sweet spot in communication today will be old news very quickly. Our job is to help clients choose communication tools wisely, use those tools well and accept that change is swift and inevitable,” Graves said. “We are proud to have built a business that has adapted and thrived through life-changing national events and revolutions in our industry, economic booms and recessions, the age of computers and the Internet—all while creating work for the greater good.”
